Konbit Receives CPI’s Hero Award – October 2017

This summer, Konbit was informed of a special honor given by our partner Children’s Place International. An excerpt from a letter from John Sweeney, Deputy Executive Director of Children’s Place International, conveying the good new reads:

“Each year, Children’s Place International presents Hero Awards to individuals and organizations who have made special contributions to children and families living in extreme poverty in the Caribbean and Africa.  I am pleased to inform you that the Children’s Place Hero Award Selection committee has chosen to honor Konbit Lasante pou Limonad with this year’s Midwest Hero award.  The Midwest Hero award honors an individual or organization based in the Midwestern United States which has demonstrated outstanding volunteer, financial or other philanthropic support for the health or education of children and or adolescent living in extreme poverty in Africa or the Caribbean.

The Selection Committee also chose to present a Front Line Hero award to Princess Kasune who grew up in Zambia and has been a life-long advocate for children affected by HIV/AIDS.  The Front Line Hero award honors an individual or organization in recognition of educational or health initiatives in Africa or the Caribbean that have a sustained and life-improving impact on children and or adolescents living in extreme poverty. More information about the Hero awards can be found at https://childrensplaceinternational.org/initiatives/hero-awards/.

This year, Children’s Place International is celebrating its 10th anniversary.  We could not think of a more fitting organization to honor than  Konbit Lasante pou Limonad – our first and oldest partner.  The benefit of the partnership is evident as we see children in Limonade, Haiti who previously had little chance of surviving with HIV now graduating from high school.   Please extend our congratulations on this much deserved honor to the entire Konbit family.”
